Four day wins 1/30-2/2/11

Successfully completed a full week following the Slow Carb plan out lined in The Four Hour Body.  Today was "dieters gone wild day", which I thoroughly enjoyed!  The basic plan is protein + legume + vegetable for four meals daily and one cheat day per week where you are encouraged to have high calorie intake.  I'll post my weight loss and inches lost for the week on Thursday, when I'm back from a work trip.

Overall, it was pretty easy to follow the plan and the cravings dropped after first day, except for major cravings on Thurday, when I exceeded the Diet Coke limit (16 oz daily).  I think the Diet Coke may add to my desire for sugar.  I'm considering going cold turkey (big deal for me) next week.

For the coming week, I'm still going to treat this diet as something needing a reward to follow since I'm traveling and may have a tougher time sticking to the plan.

1/30-2/02
Sunday--follow diet plan
 reward--new Susan Elizabeth Philips novel
Monday--follow diet plan
reward--browse and request ebooks from the library
Tuesday--follow diet plan
reward--new lipstick
Wednesday--follow diet plan
Four day reward--perfume

Next week, I'm going to actually start blogging my way through the book (Four Day Win) as promised!

Four day win plan for 1/24/2011-1/29/2011

I just finished reading The Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss and got really excited about his eating plan and all the fat burning coming my way!  So, despite having told myself I was going to be "pure" and not follow any certain eating plan again and only work ever so slowly towards Thinner Peace, here I go.  I'm currently feeling the shakes from cutting back on all the "white" carbs.

Goal: (actually making this a 5 day win based on the flow of the week)
Follow my eating plan
Rewards:
Monday-purchase Four Hour Workweek
Tues-Watch Biggest Loser, give self pass on State of the Union guilt-free
Wed-Field trip to renew out of town library card (yes, it's really a prize to me...4200 downloadable audiobooks and 1200 ebooks!!! Yippee!)
Thurs-Massage while I'm out of town next week
Fri-Eat, drink and be merry on cheat day (including a trip for fancy beer!!!)

I may add another goal later in the week.  For now, making it through the shakes is about all I can manage.

What it's all about

"How you do one thing is how you do everything."

Well, here goes.  My name is Lil and I've decided to commit to working through the book, The Four Day Win by Martha Beck, PhD.  I picked up this book over a year ago and LOVED it!  I read the whole book and did incorporate some of the exercises into my life and lost about 20 pounds (I was also doing Weight Watchers, but this clearly made the experience much easier than any other time I've dieted).  Now, I want to really dig in and reach Thinner Peace, as Martha says.

This fabulous and very funny book is about changing your brain from the brain of a fat person to that of a naturally thin person.  Dr. Beck (henceforth Martha on this blog!) goes deep into the neuroscience and psychology of obesity and chunks it down into very manageable four day exercises.  Four days is the magic number to get started on changing any habit and you leverage this with rewards of your own choosing.

The reason I'm doing this is, of course, to become thin, but also to actually, finally, really DO the things I read about and think are wonderful.  If anyone wants to join in, all the better!
